Shivraj Springs into Action, Calls for Action against Corona

Gains confidence in house, gets a new chief secretary
Amidst the upheaval caused by the COVID-19, Shivraj Singh Chouhan was sworn in as the 19th chief minister of Madhya Pradesh on Monday night. The oath ceremony was held at the governor’s house at 9 pm.
Minutes after taking oath as the CM he reached the state secretariat and held a meeting with the top officials of the state including the chief secretary and the DGP along with principal secretaries of all the departments.
Marking, combat against the COVID-19 as the utmost priority he ordered for Bhopal located gas tragedy memory hospital to be turned into specialty hospital exclusively for Corona patients and declaring curfew in two districts. He also ordered strict enforcement of the lockdown in other districts of the state.
On Tuesday morning the Shivraj Singh Chouhan led the BJP government to secured an easy trust vote in the state assembly with 107 MLAs of his own party. With 2 independent, 1 Samajwadi and 2 Bahujan Samajwadi MLAs in support, the Chouhan government now enjoys majority of 112 MLAs.

Not a single Congress MLA was present in the house during the trust vote, adding another twist for the future of politics in Madhya Pradesh. Former president of USA Franklin D Roosevelt had said
“In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.”

Also, as soon as the state secretariat was opened on Tuesday orders regarding a change in administrative command of Madhya Pradesh was also announced with Iqbal Singh Bains, a 1985 batch IAS officer being appointed as the new chief secretary of Madhya Pradesh.
Ex-CM Kamal Nath had appointed another 1985 batch IAS officer M Gopal Reddy as the chief secretary of the state. Bains, during the Nath government, were shunted to the revenue board of the state.
