Will do Parikrama of Govardhan Once Corona is Over: Shivraj

Appeals religious leaders for public support

MMadhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan recently said that after the Coronavirus crisis ends, he will do a Parikrama’ (circumambulation) of Govardhan Parvat in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh.
Chauhan said,
“After the Corona crisis ends, I myself will go for ‘Giriraj Ji Parikrama’.”
Govardhan and its surrounding area are also called Braj Bhoomi. This is the Lilasthali of Lord Shri Krishna. It was here that Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan mountain on his junior finger to save the Brajwasis from the wrath of Indra in Dwapar Yuga. Govardhan Parvat is also known as the devotee Giriraj Ji.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan has appealed to the public that during the COVID-19 epidemic, people should not organize the functions like marriage. On Saturday night, Chauhan said this while addressing the people of the state through DD. To deal with the Coronavirus crisis in the state, he has been meeting with all the religious leaders and urged them that the upcoming festivals in the state should be celebrated at home. The Chief Minister said that people of every community or religion are cooperating in the efforts to deal with the coronavirus and they have also celebrated the last festivals at home.
Prior to this CM had held a video conference with the religious leaders to discuss ways to check the spread of coronavirus. Chouhan urged the seers to appeal the followers to maintain complete social distancing and offer prayers at home. It was also decided that like Navratri and Ram Navmi, coming festivals like Mahaveer Jayanti, Good Friday and Shab-e-Barat will be observed by staying at home.
“I appeal to all religious leaders to convey their message to followers and the society to maintain lockdown guidelines and social distancing. We also request all that like Navratri and Ram Navmi, the coming occasions like Mahaveer Jayanti, Good Friday and Shab-e-Barat will be observed by all the followers by staying at home,”
said Chouhan addressing religious leaders from ten divisions through video conference here at his official residence.
The chief minister also cautioned the leaders to inform the followers that they should desist from misbehaving and attacking the corona warriors including doctors and para-medical staff. “Our teams which include doctors, nurses, para-medical staff, police, revenue and municipal workers have dedicated themselves for the cause to save the precious life. Every community should welcome and respect them. We will not tolerate any misconduct with the corona warriors,” said Chouhan.
